We spent most of the week fencing, which is extremely satisfying. The pigs, who have been making a mockery of my temporary fencing for weeks, ran back and forth watching the effort, investigating, sniffing the fence, stealing the tools, monitoring the progress, and then suddenly to their complete dismay, they were penned in –with no way out except the new gate, which they haven't yet figured out how to unlatch. Oh my it feels so good! People say pigs are smart- and if being persistently self-willed and bellicose is a marker of intelligence, then yes, by all means, they are very smart indeed.
I also spent an inordinate amount of time trying to reboot our live stream camera. As zen inducing as I find fencing and most any other hands on “chore” – my blood pressure starts to elevate the moment I even begin to contemplate trying to figure out an internet related problem. It doesn't help when I am standing in the blistering wind, with my laptop propped against a fallen log trying to remember passwords and the answer to that oh so clever security question like “what is the middle name of my first born cousin's dog?” - but for now its fixed, and I'll be content to just be doing pretty much anything else for the rest of the week.
